Better Off Out – UKIP Spring Conference : #UKIP #BetterOffOut

This week our podcast takes the form of a report from the UKIP Spring Conference in Llandudno in North Wales. We managed to grab a chat with lots of people behind the scenes – including MEPs, party activists, researchers, representatives of both Vote Leave and GO! as well as some folks from think tanks. A very busy time. The report starts with yours truly on the seafront at Llandudno about to go into the conference.

As ever with recordings made a busy events such as political conferences there is a bit of background noise in places, so my apologies for that.

That’s it for this week. Don’t forget that you can learn more about this campaign on our website www.BetterOffOut.net. We are also on Facebook and Twitter and we have our own YouTube Channel as well.

Better Off Out – GO rally – Part I – 4th March : BOO

This week our podcast comes from the Grassroots Out Campaign Rally that was held in Westminster on 19 February. Close on 2,000 people packed into the Queen Elizabeth Hall to listen. It was a thrilling event with a magnetic atmosphere

The first speaker was David Campbell-Bannerman, Conservative MEP for East Anglia.

Next up was Bill Cash, Conservative MP for Stone. A veteran of the Eurosceptic cause.

Gerard Batten was on next. He is UKIP MEP for London and one of the more thoughtful speakers of the evening. And the most amusing.

Kate Hoey is Labour MP for Vauxhall and a key figure in Labour Leave.

Tom Pursglove is the youngest Conservative MP. He brings a youthful look to the campaign.

That’s it for this week. Don’t forget that you can learn more about this campaign on our website www.BetterOffOut.net. We are also on Facebook and Twitter and we have our own YouTube Channel as well.

Tune in next week for Part 2 with David Davis, John Boyd, Ruth Lea, Nigel Farage and George Galloway.

Better Off Out – Save Britain’s Fish II – 5/2/2016 : BOO

Save Britain’s Fish

This month Better Off Out is running a campaign focussing on the disastrous Common Fisheries Policy of the European Union. So for the second week we are looking at the damage done to Britain’s marine environment and to our fishing industry. We also explain how the situation would be improved if we left the European Union and regained control over our coastal and territorial waters.

For this podcast Rupert Matthews travelled down to Cornwall to speak to those working in the fishing and related industries. The singing you can hear is by the boys in the Newquay Rowing Club.

We start with a piece about the Spanish Subsidies Scandal. This piece was recorded on the quayside at Penzance fishing harbour, so apologies for a bit of background noise.

Dave Hicks, Newlyn

We move to Newlyn for an interview with Dave Hicks, a local fisherman. Again we were talking in the harbour so there is some background noise, for which apologies.

We take an overall look at the decline of the UK fishing industry under the European Union’s Common Fisheries Policy.

What the European Union costs Accrington & Lancashire

Rupert Matthews of Better Off Out meets with Edward Spalton of Campaign for an Independent Britain in Accrington to talk about the true cost of the European Union to the residents of this Lancashire town, and to us all.

Accrington Nori Bricks and World Trade

Rupert Matthews of Better Off Out travels to the brickworks in Accrington, Lancashire, where the famous “NORI” brick is made to learn what this humble brick can tell us about world free trade and the UK’s relationship with the EU.

Accrington Market and European Union trade regulations

The magnificent market hall at Accrington, Lancashire, has a stall selling jelly babies, but also has much to reveal about EU trade regulations and why Britain would be better off leaving the EU.

The Statue of King Edward VII in Birmingham & the European Union

This statue of King Edward VII was made from marble imported from Italy in the days before the European Union existed. Even so its history and its links to the British Commonwealth point the way to the future of Britain if we vote to leave the EU.

The Birmingham Golden Boys and leaving the European Union

A gilded bronze statue of Matthew Boulton, James Watt and William Murdoch by William Bloye and Raymond Forbes-Kings stands on a plinth of Portland stone, outside the old Register Office on Broad Street in Birmingham, England. Rupert Matthews of Better Off Out explains what the statue can tell us about Britain’s relationship with the European Union.

Why Britain will vote “NO” in the EU Referendum

A speech by Rupert Matthews of Better Off Out to the Young Independence Conference outlining the reasons why Britain should vote to Leave the EU, and why the campaign to secure that vote is going to be so difficult.
